Yuzu sushi Rivière-du-loup

Hit up Yuzu with a couple friends last weekend and the omakase board was honestly worth the drive to Rivière-du-Loup. The salmon tataki had this smoky edge that none of us expected, and the chef actually came by our table to explain the plating. Service was quick even though the place was packed for a Saturday around 7pm. We're already talking about booking a table again before the month is out.

We stopped in for brunch Sunday morning and honestly did not expect sushi to hit that well before noon, but the salmon avocado roll changed our minds fast. The owner came by to chat about how the fish gets sourced, which was a nice touch and made the whole thing feel less like a chain and more like a neighborhood spot. Seating was tight since a few other groups had the same idea, but we snagged a table by the window and the light coming in made it a pretty relaxed way to start the day. Four of us split a bunch of plates and nobody left hungry or disappointed, we're already planning when to go back.

Stopped by at Yuzu on Saturday afternoon after wandering around downtown Riviere-du-Loup and the spicy salmon roll was easily one of the better sushi dishes I've had outside of Montreal. The place has a calm, minimalist vibe with big windows letting in tons of light, perfect for a leisurely lunch. Our server actually took the time to walk us through the specials and recommended the miso black cod, which turned out to be the highlight of the meal. Street parking was easy to find nearby too, so overall a really solid weekend find.
